Life is delicate. The slightest thing can overthrow it's balance, or extinguish it completely.
Life is precious. Yet there are those who do not want it. There are those who just let go of everything, as soon as things take a turn for the worse. But why? Why not hold on and think, "Perhaps things will get better?" I do not understand. There are those who give up. The ones who let their pain, their sadness, or their anger, they let it take them. Some simply cannot hold on, but it is not their fault that they were just far to tired and weak to hold on...
And there are those who fight. The ones who will hold onto life with everything they've got. Who simply do not want to let go. Who fight to live because they believe that things can get better. There are those who will never give up until their last, dying breath, because they do not want to lose what is most precious to them. Some call it cowardice, fear of the unknown and the inability to accept their own death. I call it bravery.
They said that she would not live past December. The news hurt us. But surely not as much as the prediction that she would not live past October 20. We were unsure of what to believe. The future was uncertain, but one thing was for sure. She was going to fight for her life, with everything she had, even though she knew her fate was inevitable.
Jaqueline Blais lived 11 days longer than was predicted for her. She died October 31, 2007.
Rest in Peace Memere, and know that we all love you and miss you with all our hearts.
